Groundnuts (also called peanuts and earthnuts) are grown from the plant of the pea family, and are developed in pods that ripen underground. The two major varieties of peanuts produced in India are Bold (Virginia) and Java (Spanish) types. The Java variety peanuts are typically pink skinned with spheroidal shape. It has less oil and fat contain than Bold Peanut. It is loaded with minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron, copper & zinc that prevent diseases. It has least moisture and least aflatoxins our peanut meets international standards.

The winter crop of peanuts is rain-fed crop whereas the summer crop is irrigated. 70% of the winter crop is the bold variety and 85% of the summer crop is Java variety.
